Product Code: S 1616 – Chestnut

Recommended Firing Temperature Range: 1030–1060 °C

Form: Supplied in liquid form in 175 g, 500 g, and 1000 g packages.

Application Properties:

  • In thin applications, this glaze creates subtle variations with purple and dark brown effects. In thick applications, the dark brown effect covers the surface and may create a metallic reflection.
  • The surface finish is glossy.
  • The glaze provides an opaque finish on the applied surface.
  • It is a fluid glaze. Its flow performance may vary depending on the application thickness.
  • It may cause glaze cracking (crazing).
  • It is not acid-resistant. Therefore, contact with acidic foods is not recommended.
  • It contains no toxic substances.

Application Methods:

  • Suitable for brush application; the recommended application thickness is 1 to 2 coats.
  • For spray gun or dipping applications, approximately 5–30% water addition is recommended to adjust the viscosity.
  • The recommended specific gravity (Baumé) range is 45–55.

Testing Recommendation:

  • We recommend that customers using our glazes for the first time prepare test tiles in order to observe the results under their own firing schedules and application methods. Preparing test tiles on both vertical and horizontal surfaces according to your application method will be beneficial for understanding the glaze.
  • The product shown in the image was applied over CMR 250 white casting clay. Since the glaze is transparent, its color and artistic effect may vary when applied over colored clays.
  • When combining ceramic art glazes with another art glaze or other glaze groups, we recommend testing them beforehand to avoid potential issues.

Care and Cleaning:

  • When the product is washed in a dishwasher, the glaze surface may be exposed to high-temperature chemical solutions, which may cause matting or variations in its artistic properties.

Safety:

  • The use of personal protective equipment is recommended during application.
  • Since glazes interact with heat, it is recommended to keep them away from sources of fire and open flames during application.
  • Children should use the product under supervision.

Storage:

  • Store the products in airtight conditions and away from direct sunlight.
  • If the products are stored for a very long period, they may begin to dry. In this case, add a small amount of water, mix thoroughly, strain, and use.
  • After the packaging has been opened, although the shelf life of the glazes may be extended, the application aids, stabilizers, and antibacterial agents contained in the glazes may gradually lose their effectiveness over time. This generally does not affect the firing result, but it may affect application performance; application may become more difficult, or cracks may appear on the surface before firing. If you encounter such a situation, please contact us for recommended solutions.
  • All ready to use glazes are available in 118 ml, 335 ml and 670 ml jars.
  • Our glazes are formulated ready to use in liquid forms.
  • It is recommended to apply by brush two to three even coats.
  • For other application methods you can add 5 %- 10 % water for diluting.
  • Before application, the glaze should be homogeneous.
  • We suggest you to test glazes on tiles and later on make final applications.
