S 1085 / Almond
Recommended Firing Range: 1030–1060°C
Available Sizes: 175 g, 500 g and 1000 g
Form: Liquid
Product Overview
S 1085 / Almond is an artistic glaze with a matte dark beige base and distinctive glossy black speckles. During firing, the particles spread evenly across the surface, creating a smooth and refined finish.
The intensity of the artistic effect can be controlled through application thickness. As the number of coats increases, the density of the black speckles on the surface becomes more pronounced, allowing you to achieve different visual effects.
The glaze provides an opaque finish, combining a matte base with glossy particles for a distinctive contrast.
Key Features
- Matte dark beige base
- Glossy black speckles
- Smooth surface finish
- Opaque coverage
- Adjustable artistic effect depending on application thickness
- Acid-resistant
- Contains no toxic substances
Application Instructions
S 1085 / Almond is particularly suitable for brush application.
For brush application, we recommend 1–3 coats depending on the desired intensity and surface effect.
For spray gun or dipping applications, approximately 5–30% water may be added to adjust the glaze consistency.
Recommended Baumé: 45–55
Important Note on Particle-Containing Glazes
Particle-containing glazes require a relatively high viscosity to keep the particles suspended. Therefore, brush application is recommended for more consistent results.
When the glaze is diluted for pouring or dipping, the particles may settle at the bottom of the container. This can affect the even distribution of the speckles during application. The glaze should therefore be mixed thoroughly and monitored throughout the application process.
Testing Recommendations
For first-time users, we recommend preparing test tiles using your own clay body, application method, and firing schedule. Testing on both vertical and horizontal surfaces can help you better understand the glaze’s behavior and determine the ideal application thickness.
The product shown in the image was applied over CMR 250 White Casting Clay.
When combining S 1085 / Almond with another artistic glaze or other glaze groups, we strongly recommend conducting preliminary tests to minimize the risk of unexpected results.
As glaze results can vary depending on clay body, application thickness, firing schedule, and kiln conditions, test firing is recommended before production.
Care & Cleaning
Dishwasher use may expose the glazed surface to high-temperature chemical solutions. This may result in changes to the matte finish or variations in the artistic appearance of the glaze over time.
For this reason, hand washing is recommended to help preserve the original surface characteristics.
Safety Information
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment during application.
- Keep the product away from fire and open flames during application.
- Children should use the product only under adult supervision.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store the glaze in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight.
If the product begins to dry after prolonged storage, add a small amount of water, mix thoroughly, and strain before use.
After opening, the application-enhancing agents, stabilizers, and preservatives contained in the glaze may gradually lose their effectiveness over time. This generally does not affect the final firing result but may affect application performance.
Depending on storage conditions and product age, the glaze may become more difficult to apply or pre-firing cracks may appear on the surface.

Application Tip
For the most consistent artistic effect, apply the glaze evenly and maintain a consistent application thickness. Test different coat thicknesses on sample tiles before applying the glaze to your final piece.
S 1085 / Almond offers a sophisticated combination of a warm matte beige background and contrasting glossy black speckles, making it a versatile choice for both functional and decorative ceramic applications.
