Product Code: SP 1217 – Lavinya

Recommended Firing Range: 1180–1200°C
Form: Supplied as a liquid glaze in 175 g, 500 g, and 1000 g packages.

Application Characteristics

  • The glaze exhibits similar characteristics in both thin and thick applications. It produces an artistic matte surface with a vibrant, variegated pink appearance. It is highly sensitive to firing temperature; therefore, the degree of matte and gloss may vary depending on heat distribution within the kiln. At higher temperatures, the surface becomes glossier and may develop irregular microcrystals in certain areas. Due to its matte nature, excessively thick applications may result in pinholing, so controlled application is recommended. Thick application should be avoided.
  • Matte surface finish.
  • Opaque glaze.
  • Does not exhibit a tendency to run within the recommended firing temperature range.
  • This glaze is not acid-resistant; therefore, it is not recommended for contact with acidic foods.
  • Does not contain toxic substances.

Application Methods

  • Suitable for brush application; the recommended thickness is 1–2 coats.
  • For spray or dipping applications, it is recommended to dilute the glaze with approximately 5–30% water to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Recommended Baumé (Bé) range: 45–55.

Testing Recommendations

  • For customers using our glazes for the first time, we recommend preparing test tiles using your own firing schedule and application method to evaluate the glaze’s performance. Testing on both vertical and horizontal forms will help you better understand its characteristics.
  • The sample shown was applied over BNC 1200 White Porcelain Clay.
  • When combining artistic glazes with other artistic or standard glaze series, we strongly recommend conducting test firings beforehand to avoid unexpected results.

Care and Cleaning

  • Dishwasher use may expose the glaze surface to high-temperature chemical detergents, which can cause slight changes in the matte finish or artistic appearance over time.

Safety

  • The use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended during application.
  • As glazes react to heat, keep them away from open flames and ignition sources during use.
  • Children should use the product only under adult supervision.

Storage

  • Store the product in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight.
  • If the glaze begins to dry after prolonged storage, add a small amount of water, mix thoroughly, and strain before use.
  • After opening, the application aids, stabilizers, and preservatives contained in the glaze may gradually lose effectiveness over time. Although this generally does not affect the fired result, it may reduce application performance, making the glaze more difficult to apply or causing surface cracking before firing. If you encounter such issues, please contact us for technical support.
  • All ready to use glazes are available in 118 ml, 335 ml and 670 ml jars.
  • Our glazes are formulated ready to use in liquid forms.
  • It is recommended to apply by brush two to three even coats.
  • For other application methods you can add 5 %- 10 % water for diluting.
  • Before application, the glaze should be homogeneous.
  • We suggest you to test glazes on tiles and later on make final applications.
