SP 1399 – Smoke
Recommended Firing Range
1180–1250°C
Packaging
Available as a liquid glaze in 175 g, 500 g, and 1000 g containers.
Product Features
- An artistic glaze that produces a green-toned beige finish.
- In thin applications, the tone becomes deeper and more pronounced.
- As application thickness increases, the surface develops misty light beige variations with a softer appearance. In heavier applications, fine surface vibrations become more noticeable.
- Glossy surface finish.
- Opaque glaze.
- Shows no running at 1200–1220°C. Between 1220–1250°C, it may exhibit flow depending on application thickness.
- Acid resistant and free from toxic substances.
Application Methods
- Suitable for brush application, with a recommended thickness of 1–3 coats.
- For spraying or dipping, dilute with approximately 5–30% water to adjust consistency.
- Recommended specific gravity: 45–55° Bé.
Testing Recommendations
- We recommend first-time users conduct test firings under their own kiln conditions and application methods.
- Preparing both vertical and horizontal test tiles will help evaluate the glaze behavior more accurately.
- The sample shown was applied over BNC 1200 White Porcelain Clay. Due to the glaze’s transparent characteristics, color and artistic effects may vary when applied on colored clay bodies.
- When combining this glaze with other artistic or standard glaze systems, compatibility testing is strongly recommended to avoid unexpected results.
Care & Cleaning
- When washed in a dishwasher, the glaze surface may be exposed to high-temperature chemical detergents. Over time, this may lead to changes in surface finish or artistic effects.
Safety
- The use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended during application.
- Keep away from open flames and ignition sources during use, as glazes react to heat.
- Children should use the product only under adult supervision.
Storage
- Store in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight and air exposure.
- If the product thickens after long storage, add a small amount of water, mix thoroughly, and strain before use.
- After opening, the effectiveness of additives such as flow modifiers, stabilizers, and preservatives may gradually decrease over time. While this typically does not affect firing results, it may impact application performance, making application more difficult or causing pre-firing surface cracking. In such cases, please contact us for technical support.

- All ready to use glazes are available in 118 ml, 335 ml and 670 ml jars.
- Our glazes are formulated ready to use in liquid forms.
- It is recommended to apply by brush two to three even coats.
- For other application methods you can add 5 %- 10 % water for diluting.
- Before application, the glaze should be homogeneous.
- We suggest you to test glazes on tiles and later on make final applications.
